Turtle tale

We are a lucky bunch. Not only we don't have to paddle and perform capsizing drills on the stinky canal (its similar to blackwattle bay in pyrmont on a good day...), we get to see sea turtles! Lots of sea turtles today!

There were a couple that were surfacing while we were doing our drills...and guess what, the Lazy One got freaked out!!! I became the laugh of the day. My coach said: "Usually when my students see sea turtles, they pull their cameras out and go "whoa" and "oohhhs" and "wows"...today is the first time I have seen a person freaked out by two sea turtles..."

Well I was ok afterward. It was just the initial shock of seeing two greenish bobbing things with massive heads and that I was almost blindly paddling straight into really freaked me out....my lucky day!

Photos showing the difference between the canal and Kualoa, random Hurricane and Tempest OC2 covers being dried, and the Helium canoe.

I paddled in the Helium on three of the past four occasion. We were encouraged to swap around so I switched to the Hurricane during second half of the clinic today. Here are my verdict on the Helium. Pros: good for shorter and smaller paddlers thanks to the adjustable foot rudder pedals and seat, good stability so great for a beginner to work on technique, also has a good angle at the heel area for leg drive. Cons: it is heavy! I honestly dont know why it is called Helium...I didn't feel it at first, but after paddling in the new Hurricane....wow...

If the Hurricane came with adjustable foot pedals then i will be all over it.
