I finally arrived in Amsterdam. It was rainy, windy, and
chilly at around 12 degrees Celsius. Despite such miserable, the air feels light
and I feel great!
Our apartment is situated near the Westerkerk, which is where
the last Queen of the Netherlands got married, and where Rembrandt was supposedly
buried. This 17th Century Protestant Church has the highest spire in
Amsterdam. Anne Frank, in her Diary, mentioned this Church and its bell
chimes. I am in love with this city already.
As soon as we dropped our bags off and freshened up, naturally we head out for some Dutch pancakes and cheese.
One of the many, many Cheese Museums in Amsterdam.
I feel great and on a natural high and so excited to be visiting Amsterdam at last. What a delightful city! Mixtures of old and new, people are friendly, and it is quiet enough for a vacation (my family thinks otherwise, but that will be another entry...)
Unfortunately my super sensitive stomach, combined with
jet-lag - caught up with me and I became ill with headaches and diarrhoea!
Man...
