So I decided to do HK...

What is it about a marathon that is so intriguing? Perhaps it is the sheer pain and tediousness, where simply finishing it is no mean feat? Or, it is a silly past time for the lonely and bored?

I was somewhat bemused from the reaction I received from my one sibling (who resides in Hong Kong) when I announced I have decided to do the full marathon instead of the half (since I am in town that particular week anyway, I might as well do a run...). Initially when I said I will do the half, I had to ask her no less than three times "will you come to the finish line please??? I need something to look forward to". Only after begging three times, I got a reluctant...Yes....

But, as soon as I said, "Ok, I like to have a finisher medal as a HK souvenir, plus it is the same price (40USD) across all races, I might as well do the full marathon." I then received an immediate reply..YES! I definitely come!! We can go to yum cha (HK style breakfast) after your race. When do you start? I make a note in my diary...."

So there you go - if you want your love ones to support your running race participation, do no less than a marathon.

Registration is open now until capacity is reached. Check out the (crazy) route at hkmarathon.com
